The Department of Tourism introduces new Smartphone Technology to promote Javea's historic buildings

The Department of Tourism of the City of Javea is installing a QR-code at all public buildings of historical interest that allows anyone with a smartphone to go straight to the tourism website and instantly get all the information about the specific property.

As announced by the area council, Antonio Miragall, at the moment the service is available at information panels at the City Hall building, the church of San Bartolomé, the Mercat Municipal, the Capella de Santa Ana and the Museum Soler Blasco. Gradually the rest of the municipal buildings will follow.

The QR-code is a bi-directional barcode containing encoded information. Its use is as simple as downloading the free NeoReader, aim the phone's camera at the QR-code and focus for a few seconds until the mobile scans and recognizes the code which sends you to the website. At the moment, the website only has the information in the Castilian and Valencian language.
