Renovation of the Javea Arenal promenade delayed until after the summer

The renovation of the Paseo del Arenal in Javea, as part of the works carried out in the name of Plan Confianza, will be delayed until after summer. Following questions of the PP, the mayor, Jose Chulvi, reported on Thursday 26th of January he was informed by the council of the Corporation that the processing of the application is taking more time than expected, thus preventing completion of the works by deadlines initially set by the regional Ministry of Infrastructure. The new date for the start of the reform would be in April and its' minimum execution time is four months.

Given this situation and the fact that no one can guarantee the work is completed before the summer, the team advises the government of Javea to request a postponement of work until after the summer. This decision was communicated to the Arenal Beach Business Association, a sector that will be directly affected by the work and the association agrees that the sensible thing is to wait until October to ensure a smooth holiday season.

The mayor believes that the regional authorities will show understanding for the change of dates. On the positive side, the postponement  means that some improvements proposed by the City Council can more easily be incorporated in the plans.

Council of Tourism
During January's regular meeting several issues were dealt with. These include the appointment of directors of the standing committee of the Municipal Tourism Council. These will be: Montisi Nieves (director of Parador), Antonio Hernandez (business tourism), Santiago Thevenet (professional audiovisual and member of the Spanish Academy of Cinema), Ángel Ballester (the administration of the estate Tossalet) and Jose Antonio Rodriguez (business property). The decision was supported by the governing body (PSOE, and Citizens for Democratic Javea Javea) and the PP group and councilors of No Adscritos. The centralist coalition Blog abstained from voting.
