Visiting Cala del Moraig Benitachell

Cala del Moraig lies on the Benitachell coastline, rather than in Jávea or Moraira. Around 300 metres long, its gravel shoreline sits beneath impressive cliffs, with clear Mediterranean waters and a viewpoint above the beach.

The setting is the main attraction: come for coastal scenery, a swim when conditions allow, or a beach visit combined with exploring the surrounding landscape. Bring footwear suitable for the pebbles and the walk down from the parking area.

Swimming and Snorkelling

The clear water makes Moraig an attractive place for snorkelling, but conditions can change. Check the beach flags and follow lifeguard instructions rather than assuming the sea will be calm.

Cova dels Arcs and Coastal Walks

Beside the beach, Cova dels Arcs is a striking geological formation with natural arches opening towards the sea. Enjoy the view when conditions permit, taking care around wet rocks and waves.

Access and Parking

The parking area is above the cove, with a steep road leading down to the beach. Allow for the uphill return, particularly in hot weather.

The council’s published parking arrangements are:

• Charging period: 1 April-15 October.
• Charging hours: 09:00-19:00.
• Visitor charge: €15 per vehicle for the day.
• Authorisation: Required when a vehicle remains within the controlled area for more than 20 minutes.
• Payment: Through calamoraig.es or the kiosk at the access point.

Eligible residents receive an exemption but must still complete the authorisation process. Separate arrangements apply to qualifying visitors with reduced mobility. Check the council’s current parking guidance before travelling.

Free Summer Shuttle Bus

The confirmed 2026 service ran daily from 1 July–31 August and has now finished. Future summer dates and timetables should be checked when announced.

In 2026, departures from the town centre were at 10:00 and 16:00, with returns from the cove at 14:00 and 18:30. Stops included the cemetery, parking opposite Masymas, Lady Elizabeth School and the Adelfas–Thomas Wilson roundabout.

A separate noon circuit served Cumbre del Sol. Between scheduled journeys, the bus also linked the upper car park and beach approximately every 20 minutes, with a break from 14:00-16:00. 

Facilities and Accessibility

Lifeguard and rescue services operate seasonally. Check current provision before relying on assistance outside summer. 

Visitors requiring accessible transport or assisted bathing should confirm arrangements before visiting. Reserved parking does not establish that the whole journey to the shoreline is independently accessible.

Bring drinking water and sun protection, and check current opening arrangements before relying on refreshments at the cove.
